Angie is going to Harvard! And Bella's continued run of accolades...

It is with much pride that we share that one of our inaugural KDF Scholars, Angie Lu (2016), is heading over to Harvard this year to begin a Master of Education in Education Policy and Analysis. And she also returned to Women’s College this year as an Resident Advisor Supervisor.


Having already completed a Master of Teaching with the University of Melbourne, Angie’s desire to gain a deep understanding of everything education-related now takes her further afield. She continues to have a long-term aspiration of contributing to the improvement of the Australian education system. Talking with us recently about her plans, she emphasised her “endless gratitude for the support given by the Katrina Dawson Foundation”, without which, she said, her achievements would not have been possible. Bella Harris (2018) has continued an incredible run of awards and prizes, showcasing her incredible talent and dedication in the field of architecture. Some examples of this recognition include:

  • The Janet Elspeth Crawford Prize.

Awarded by: The University of Sydney and The Women’s College

The Janet Elspeth Crawford Prize is awarded annually on the recommendation of the Deans of the Faculties to the most proficient woman student graduating with a Bachelor's Degree and first class honours.

  • The National Women’s Council of NSW Australia Day Award

Awarded by: The National Women’s Council, sponsored by The Sydney University Women’s Group

The National Women’s Council Australia Day Award is awarded for first class honours and overall academic performance.


  • The University of Sydney 2020 Industry Award Shortlist Bachelor of Design in Architecture

Awarded by: The University of Sydney, School of Architecture, Design and Planning

The University of Sydney 2020 Industry Award Shortlist Bachelor of Design in Architecture recognised Bella’s graduation project “Lucid” as one of the top 5 projects of the graduating year.


  • Dean’s List of Excellence in Academic Performance 2020

Awarded by: The University of Sydney, School of Architecture, Design and Planning


  • The Sibyl Leadership Grant

Awarded by: The Women’s College

The Sibyl Leadership Grant was awarded for Bella’s honours thesis research, leadership aspirations and professional career development within the architectural industry.
