Our Programmes

The Katrina Dawson Foundation finds, funds and mentors inspiring young women.

The financial and mentoring support offered by the Foundation enables talented young women to overcome barriers that might otherwise prevent them from realising their potential to have an extraordinary, positive impact on the Australian community or wider world.

The Katrina Dawson Foundation partners with a number of organisations to be able to offer a range of opportunities for support. All of our financial support is offered directly by through our programme partners, e.g., The Women's College. The Katrina Dawson Foundation cannot accept applications directly and applications must be made to our partner organisations.*

The programmes are set out below.
Scholarships

The cornerstone of The Katrina Dawson Foundation’s programme is Scholarships for undergraduates to attend The Women’s College within the University of Sydney. The scholarships to The Women’s College will provide financial assistance to students residing at The Women’s College and studying at The University of Sydney.

Post Graduate Fellowships

This support is for a woman who has already demonstrated some track record of achievement in her chosen field, and just needs an extra boost to make the most of her opportunities. Since 2015, we have partnered with the Aurora Education Foundation to provide these fellowships.

High School Prizes

Through a partnership with The Smith Family (Learning for Life programme), the Foundation offers a selection of high school prizes to celebrate academic excellence and leadership in the community.

Mentoring

Our ultimate aim is for our scholarship and fellowship recipients to fulfil their potential, and we believe that providing them with mentors will further support this mission.

* As The Katrina Dawson Foundation is a public ancillary fund, The Katrina Dawson Foundation can only provide grants to organisations that are endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office as “deductible gift recipients” where the "provision for gift deductibility" is "item 1 of the table in section 30-15 of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997" (“DGR 1”). The Katrina Dawson Foundation cannot make grants to the public, to public ancillary funds or to private ancillary funds. For this reason, The Katrina Dawson Foundation has established its programmes in conjunction with organisations that are endorsed as a DGR 1 and provide any funding to that DGR 1 entity who will in turn administer the programme.
