The Katrina Dawson Foundation - Fundraising Guidelines (2015)
Introduction
​
It is against the law for an individual or entity to conduct fundraising activities on behalf of The Katrina Dawson Foundation without obtaining prior written authorisation from The Katrina Dawson Foundation. Application forms can be obtained from The Katrina Dawson Foundation.

The Katrina Dawson Foundation – Fundraising Guidelines (2015) (Fundraising Guidelines) govern the terms that allow individuals or entities to conduct approved fundraising activities on behalf of The Katrina Dawson Foundation.

Responsibility of Organiser
​
Any event or activity approved for fundraising by The Katrina Dawson Foundation (Activity) is to be undertaken at the sole responsibility of the person or entity who applied for the authorisation from The Katrina Dawson Foundation (Fundraiser).
​
Fundraising and Expenses
​
The Katrina Dawson Foundation is not able to assist with the funding of any Activity. Therefore, all Activities must be self-sufficient.
The Katrina Dawson Foundation will not be held liable for any losses or expenses incurred, by you, in any circumstances.

In relation to an Activity, which are appeals for donations, the Fundraiser must take all reasonable steps to ensure that total expenses payable in relation to the Event do not amount to more than 40% of the gross proceeds. For all other Activities, such as the sale of goods and services, the return must be fair and reasonable.
​
The proceeds from the Activity and a statement of income and expenditure, along with copies of receipts for all expenditure and receipt books are to be forwarded to The Katrina Dawson Foundation within 14 days of the conclusion of the Activity.
​
Donations
​
The Fundraiser must not deposit donations into any bank account other than a bank account in the name of The Katrina Dawson Foundation. Pending any such deposit, funds must be segregated from other funds of the Fundraiser.
​
Where possible, donors should make donations by direct deposit or by credit card directly into accounts in the name of The Katrina Dawson Foundation. Details of accounts and credit card facilities can be obtained from The Katrina Dawson Foundation.

Reputation
​
The Katrina Dawson Foundation reserves the right to refuse authorization for any Activity or to revoke any authorisation for any Activity if The Katrina Dawson Foundation believes it is not in the best interests of the Fundraiser or The Katrina Dawson Foundation.
The Fundraiser must ensure that:

any Activity; and

any participant’s conduct in relation to the any Activity,
is not inappropriate or discriminatory on the basis of, without limitation, sexual content, racism, sexism or sexual preference.
Information and Liaison
​
The Fundraiser must provide all information in relation to any Activity that is reasonably requested by The Katrina Dawson Foundation.
​
The Fundraiser agrees to comply with all reasonable requests made by The Katrina Dawson Foundation. Any failure to comply with any such request may result in any authorization to be revoked.
​
Changes to Activity
​
If any details of any proposed Activity change and that change would result in the original application form being materially misleading or incorrect, the Fundraiser must resubmit the application for approval by The Katrina Dawson Foundation. The Fundraiser must not undertake the proposed Activity until a new authority for fundraising has been obtained in relation to the changed Activity.

Tax Receipts
​
Individual tax-deductible receipts can only be issued by The Katrina Dawson Foundation for people making monetary donations of $2.00 or more.
​
If a donor would like a receipt, please send a list including the name, address; phone number and donation amount and a receipt will be issued from The Katrina Dawson Foundation.
Please note that The Katrina Dawson Foundation cannot provide tax-deductible receipts for payments of funds which are made with an expectation of the provision of a good or service rendered in return.

No Agency
​
The Fundraiser is not an agent or representative of The Katrina Dawson Foundation. The Fundraiser has no power to bind The Katrina Dawson Foundation and must make it clear in all dealings with third parties and donors that the Fundraiser is independently raising funds that will be paid separately to The Katrina Dawson Foundation.

Compliance with Laws
​
The Fundraiser must comply with all relevant laws in the Commonwealth and each State and Territory in Australia in relation to the Activity. If required, the Fundraiser must apply for any relevant authorisations and permits and forward those authorisations and permits to The Katrina Dawson Foundation.
​
Assistance from Foundation
​
The Fundraiser must specifically request any assistance from The Katrina Dawson Foundation that the Fundraiser would like from The Katrina Dawson Foundation in its application for fundraising authority. Any such request is at the sole discretion of The Katrina Dawson Foundation.
​
If The Katrina Dawson Foundation agrees to any request for assistance, any such agreement is on a “best efforts – no liability” basis. The Katrina Dawson Foundation disclaims all liability, and the Fundraiser releases The Katrina Dawson Foundation, from all liability in relation to any such assistance or the failure to provide any requested assistance.

No Hawking or Solicitation
​
The Fundraiser must ensure that the Activity does not involve any door-to-door appeal, street collections or telephone solicitation of any kind to the public in connection with the Activity.
​
Insurance
​
The Katrina Dawson Foundation does not have any insurance in relation to any activities conducted by third parties. All insurance cover in relation to any Activity required is the responsibility of the Fundraiser, including public liability insurance or any insurance for expenses for activities that are required to be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.
Advertising and Logo
​
The Fundraiser is not permitted to use:

The Katrina Dawson Foundation name; or
-
the “tree” logo,
without written approval from The Katrina Dawson Foundation.
​
You must not advertise your Activity be as a The Katrina Dawson Foundation event. However, it can be referred to as an event supporting The Katrina Dawson Foundation.
​
Fundraisers may use phrases such as “proudly supporting” in promotional material or statements indicating that all funds will be donated to The Katrina Dawson Foundation.
​
All promotional material, advertisements, media materials and press releases to be used by the Fundraiser in relation to any Activity must be submitted to The Katrina Dawson Foundation before circulation or publication.
Indemnity and Release
​
The Fundraiser indemnifies The Katrina Dawson Foundation against any liability, action, claim, suit, damage, cost and expense (including all legal fees) suffered by The Katrina Dawson Foundation, to the extent that a claim or action brought against The Katrina Dawson Foundation is connected to, in relation to or arising out of the Fundraiser’s:

negligence; or
-
breach of, or default under, the Fundraising Guidelines.
The Fundraiser releases The Katrina Dawson Foundation from and indemnifies The Katrina Dawson Foundation against any liability for any injury, accident or other loss, whether physical or financial, suffered by the Fundraiser or its personnel in the course of conducting any Activity.
